Pepco Energy will also provide ongoing measurement and verification and maintenance services over the contract term designed to enhance and assure project savings.

The project will reduce Appalachian State University’s annual energy usage in the project buildings by 30 percent and its water usage by 24 percent. This project will have positive impacts on the environment, reducing CO2emissions by 12.7 million pounds per year which is the equivalent of removing the emissions from over 1100 cars from the road

Michael J. O’Connor, director of the physical plant at ASU, said, “The University has been a leader in sustainability and reducing our energy use. Our first project with Pepco was instrumental in the campus reducing overall energy use by 30 percent.”

In the next phase, ASU aims to halve their energy use in their largest lab building that uses 20 percent of total campus energy O’Connor added.

In addition, Pepco Energy will be providing ongoing measurement and verification and maintenance services over the contract term designed to enhance and assure project savings.
