OSRAM SYLVANIA Reduces 20% of its corporate GHG Emissions

Greentech Lead America: OSRAM SYLVANIA, a provider in
lighting solutions and services, has reduced its corporate absolute greenhouse
gas emissions by 20 percent over the past five years. The company has joined
the US EPA Climate Leaders Partnership in 2007 and pledged to reduce its
corporate-wide greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 10 percent between 2006 and
2011.

truly demonstrates how we’ve integrated sustainability into our corporate
culture,” said Rick Leaman, president and CEO of OSRAM SYLVANIA. “We
will continue to strive for further emissions reductions and set additional
environmental goals through our Global Care initiative.”

OSRAM SYLVANIA’s Global Care represents its commitment to
social and environmental responsibility and promotes the company’s goals and
achievements towards increasing its sustainable products and practices. 

Through Global Care, OSRAM SYLVANIA sets aggressive
corporate goals, such as energy reduction, packaging improvements, increased
recycling activities and greenhouse gas emissions reductions.

Through a range of activities the company has achieved an
impressive 20-percent-reduction in its GHG emissions. OSRAM SYLVANIA has
upgraded its lighting solutions at manufacturing facilities and distribution
centers. The company has rebuilt an energy-efficient furnace at
its Versailles, KY facility. 

Through its Global Care program, the company replaced old
vehicles in its fleets with fuel efficient smartWay certified vehicles.

OSRAM SYLVANIA pledged to reduce energy intensity by 25 percent
over the course of 10 years.  In the five years since its baseline year of
2006, the company reduced its energy intensity by 12.77 percent, as reported to
the US Department of Energy’s Better Plants Program keeping it on track to
achieve its 10-year goal.
