Council announced the appointment of Lindsey Engels, LEED AP BD & C to the
position of executive director.

The USGBC-OC began the year with
review of a draft strategic plan for the chapter, review of the budget and
review of the bylaws, charter and articles of incorporation. They will help
focus the organization on further socially and environmentally sustainable
programs and efforts.
In 2011, the USGBC-OC
implemented a green classroom project at Davis Magnet School, held numerous
programs and events to promote green practices and donated $3,800 to the Second
Harvest Foot Bank in cooperation with ULI and ASLA.
The kickoff event for the USGBC will
be on January 26, 2012 at Hurley Headquarters, 1945 N. Placentia Avenue, Costa
Mesa, CA from 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The Advocacy committee of the chapter will
announce the inaugural Eco City Award for the most Sustainable City in Orange County.
Currently Irvine, Anaheim and Huntington Beach are the top finalists. Attendees
interesting in shopping at the Hurley store will receive the employee discount
between the hours of 5:30 and 6:00 p.m.
