Mohegan Sun Massachusetts has attained one of the highest Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) scores declaring it as the greenest resort casino in the country.
They earned these points from U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED certification program that identifies building best practices and evaluates various elements.
The Massachusetts Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA MA) has praised it as the “markedly superior in every design aspect” highlighting the creative design, sustainable features, proximity to public transportation, the beach and the community.
The resort will be a $1.3 billion LEED Gold project highlighting sustainability and environmental efficiency incorporated into all aspects of design.
Forty percent of the power generated will be supplied according to carbon neutralizing specifications, while 50 percent of the site is an open space.
Their exclusive construction manner and designing has made the resort a final destination for the Commonwealth.
The architecture includes a unique character of Revere, featuring vast open space that connects to public transportation and beach. Time and resources were invested to create an outstanding design that includes the best sustainability features, said, Mitchell Etess, CEO, Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority.
Other features in the resort includes electric vehicles and charging stations, preferential parking for low-emitting fuel-efficient vehicles roof-top solar panels capable of saving 800 tons of carbon a year energy-efficient lighting and energy-star rated equipment and solid food waste recycling program.
Mohegan Sun Massachusetts will feature two hotels and world-class dining, shopping and entertainment amenities located on 42 acres in Revere.
