LG Electronics has been accredited by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with the 2014 ENERGY STAR Emerging Technology Award for the new EcoHybrid Heat Pump Dryer.
This award recognizes innovative technologies that offer reduced energy use and greenhouse gas emissions, without compromising on the features.
The LG EcoHybrid Dryer is the latest addition to LG’S product series designed for more efficient and environment- friendly performance. LG has introduced this technology to the U.S. market after a three year long effort.
LG’s EcoHybrid Dryer is the first commercially available dryer in the US to utilize heat pump technology that trap and recycle generated energy during drying process, saving up to 50 percent more energy than conventional electric dryers.
In addition, it also features functions consisting in other LG products including LG TrueSteam technology, which uses real steam to reduce wrinkles, eliminating the need for ironing.
Moreover,the 7.3-cubic-foot capacity dryer is also equipped with Smart Diagnosis technology, allowing users to rectify minor issues without a service call.
Besides, LG EcoHybrid dryer is among the industry’s first dryers to be ENERGY STAR certified, based on the new DOE dryer test procedures.

LG was the first to offer a heat pump dryer for sale in North America. This technology has the potential to save significant amounts of energy and carbon emissions, said Ann Bailey, director, ENERGY STAR Products, EPA.

LG jointly with EPA will promote the dryer and educate consumers on the energy efficiency benefits of this product that will deliver energy savings.
Unveiled this year at the 2014 International CES, this Heat Pump Dryer is available now in selected U.S. markets and will be available nationwide this fall.
