First Vestas EnVentus Turbines Arrive in South Korea for Yeongdeok Repowering Project
The first Vestas EnVentus V162-6.2 MW turbine components have arrived in South Korea for the Yeongdeok repowering project, marking the platform’s debut in the Korean market. The project is being developed by YOWIP, a subsidiary of Revent Energy. Vestas has installed around 680 MW of capacity in South Korea since entering the market in 1991 and currently has about 725 MW under construction. Arrival of the EnVentus components is a material execution milestone because it moves the repowering project into the equipment-delivery and installation phase. The V162-6.2 MW platform is designed to increase output from existing wind sites while reducing turbine count, supporting South Korea’s broader push to expand domestic renewable-energy generation.
UK Offshore Wind Growth Partnership Awards £1 Million to Supply-Chain Innovation Projects
The Offshore Wind Growth Partnership has awarded around £1 million to seven UK companies developing technologies for offshore wind foundations, substations and electrical systems. The funding targets near-to-market innovations intended to strengthen the domestic supply chain and reduce project costs. The programme is supported by industry participants including Equinor and SSE Renewables and follows earlier competitions offering individual grants of roughly £25,000 to £200,000. Offshore wind supply-chain investment has become more important as the UK moves forward with an additional 8.4 GW secured in Allocation Round 7. The latest awards are focused on technologies that can reduce bottlenecks in foundations, electrical infrastructure and installation, helping UK suppliers capture a larger share of future offshore-wind expenditure.
Inox Solar Americas Wins New 800 MW US Solar Module Contract for Colorado and Georgia Projects
Inox Solar Americas has signed a new 800 MW photovoltaic module supply agreement covering two utility-scale solar projects in Colorado and Georgia. The individual projects are approximately 300 MW and 500 MW, with module deliveries scheduled to begin in 2027. The unnamed customer is a US renewable-energy developer, owner and operator active in utility-scale solar and storage. Inox will supply its Vega Series bifacial modules using Galaxion PV cells. This is separate from the previously covered 767 MW agreement and lifts Inox Solar Americas’ recently announced US contracts to roughly 1.57 GW. The company owns 3 GW of annual US module manufacturing capacity in Greenville, North Carolina, with another 3 GW of planned cell capacity expected online in 2027.
