France Awards 1.22 GW Solar Capacity Across 996 Projects as Auction Prices Decline

France has selected 996 photovoltaic projects representing 1,219.71 MWp through two competitive solar procurement rounds. The ground-mounted solar auction awarded approximately 931.4 MWp across 125 projects, while the smaller rooftop and carport programme selected 871 projects totalling 288.31 MWp. The average awarded price for ground-mounted solar declined to approximately €61.33/MWh, compared with €79.48/MWh in the previous comparable auction. Smaller photovoltaic projects achieved an average price of €75.48/MWh. The rooftop tender attracted applications representing approximately 963 MWp, more than three times the capacity awarded. The results were released by France’s energy authorities in October 2026 and cover projects progressing toward construction under the country’s renewable electricity support framework.

Arevon Signs Three 20-Year Renewable Energy Contracts for 200 MW Illinois Solar Farm

US renewable-energy developer Arevon Energy has signed three 20-year renewable energy credit contracts with Ameren Illinois, Commonwealth Edison and MidAmerican Energy for its 200 MWac/275 MWdc Panther Energy solar project in Perry County, Illinois. The project was selected through the Illinois Power Agency’s Summer 2026 procurement programme. The contracts cover 421,131 renewable energy credits during the first year, allocated among the three utilities. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027, with completion expected in 2028. The project is expected to create approximately 200 construction jobs and generate around $20 million in property tax payments during its operating life. Annual generation is expected to match electricity consumption by more than 37,000 homes.

Akamai Signs Solar PPA Covering 13 MWp Across 27 Rooftop Projects in Singapore

US cloud technology company Akamai Technologies has signed a virtual power purchase agreement with EDP APAC covering 13 MWp of rooftop solar capacity in Singapore. The agreement covers electricity generated by 27 operational solar installations developed by EDP’s Asia-Pacific business. Combined annual generation is estimated at approximately 17 GWh, with expected emissions reductions of around 5,850 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent annually. The agreement represents Akamai’s first renewable electricity procurement contract in Asia-Pacific. Energy advisory company 3Degrees supported the transaction. EDP APAC reported more than 1.6 GWp of committed renewable capacity across the region at the end of 2025. Akamai is targeting 100 percent renewable electricity and net-zero emissions by 2030.
