The latest renewable energy news includes announcements from Nordex, Galileo, Nala Renewables, Vuolijoki battery energy storage project in Finland, and others.

Nordex Secures Additional 228 MW of Wind Orders Across European Markets

Nordex has received orders for 35 wind turbines with approximately 228 MW of combined capacity across Southern, Central and Eastern Europe. The contracts, announced October 6, cover supply and installation of N175/6.X, N163/6.X and N149/4.X turbines, alongside service agreements extending up to 25 years. Selected machines will include cold-climate configurations and Nordex’s Advanced Anti-Icing technology. The manufacturer says the system can reduce production losses during active icing conditions by up to 80 percent. Customer identities, project names and individual country allocations were not disclosed. These contracts are separate from the company’s newly announced 389 MW Turkish order portfolio and represent additional confirmed turbine supply business.

Galileo Secures Permits for 250 MW / 1.5 GWh Battery Storage Portfolio in Italy

European renewable-energy developer Galileo has obtained development consent for two utility-scale battery energy storage projects in Italy with combined capacity of 250 MW/1,500 MWh. The portfolio includes a 125 MW/1,000 MWh eight-hour battery and a 125 MW/500 MWh four-hour battery. The projects are located in Italy’s northern and central-southern electricity market zones. Galileo expects authorisation for another approximately 100 MW of battery capacity in the coming weeks. The company has developed both projects internally, from site selection through permitting. The approved facilities form part of Galileo’s Italian renewable-energy pipeline exceeding 3 GW, which includes solar, wind and battery storage developments. Construction schedules and investment values were not disclosed.

Nala Renewables Moves 125 MW / 250 MWh Finnish Battery Project into Construction

Nala Renewables has issued a formal Notice to Proceed for construction of its 125 MW/250 MWh Vuolijoki battery energy storage project in Finland. The development was previously acquired from Fu-Gen, making the construction authorisation a new project milestone rather than a repeat acquisition announcement. Vuolijoki will become one of Finland’s larger standalone battery installations once completed. Nala’s Finnish storage portfolio also includes the recently energised 50 MW/100 MWh Kauhava project and the acquired 100 MW/200 MWh Kärppiö project. Together, the three facilities represent 275 MW/550 MWh of battery capacity. The company did not disclose the construction contract value or expected commissioning date for Vuolijoki.
