MaxSolar Secures €155 Million CIP Financing for 1.3 GW German Renewable Portfolio

German renewable-energy developer MaxSolar has closed a €155 million holding-company debt facility from funds managed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners. The financing refinances existing debt and provides additional capital for an approximately 1.3 GW portfolio of solar photovoltaic and battery storage projects in Germany. The portfolio comprises approximately 912 MW of solar PV and 379 MW of standalone and co-located battery capacity. About 465 MW is already operational, including 440 MW of solar generation and 25 MW of battery storage. The facility replaces financing arranged in 2023 and will support construction expenditure and selected acquisitions from MaxSolar’s development pipeline. The transaction consolidates financing under a single institutional lender while extending capital availability for the company’s renewable-generation and storage expansion.

Cargill Adds 87 MW Wind PPA and Details 85 MW Solar Supply Agreement in US

Cargill has signed a 12.6-year virtual power purchase agreement for 87 MW of wind electricity from the Sweetland Wind project in South Dakota. The contract is expected to support approximately 392,000 MWh of renewable generation annually and reduce emissions associated with Cargill’s operations by approximately 162,000 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent each year. The company also detailed an existing long-term agreement covering the full output of the 85 MW Choctaw Fields Solar project in Oklahoma, which began commercial operation in August 2026. Together, the projects represent 172 MW of contracted renewable capacity. Cargill maintains six North American virtual power purchase agreements and a global renewable-energy portfolio exceeding 100 projects across 30 countries.

EWE Signs 500-Tonne Green Hydrogen Supply Agreement with tesa in Germany

German energy company EWE has signed an agreement to supply 500 tonnes of renewable hydrogen annually to adhesive manufacturer tesa from 2028. Hydrogen will be produced at EWE’s planned 320 MW electrolysis facility in Emden, scheduled to enter operation at the end of 2027. The fuel will be transported through Germany’s emerging hydrogen pipeline network to tesa’s Hamburg manufacturing plant, where it will replace fossil fuels used for steam generation. The agreement covers the plant’s planned annual hydrogen requirements and is expected to reduce emissions by approximately 6,000 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent annually. tesa is installing hydrogen-ready steam boilers and preparing a connection to Hamburg’s HH-WIN hydrogen network.

Ballard Wins 4.8 MW Fuel Cell Order for 12 Hydrogen Trains in Romania

Ballard Power Systems has received an order from Siemens Mobility for 24 FCrail fuel cell modules rated at 200 kW each, providing 4.8 MW of combined capacity. The equipment will power 12 Mireo Plus H hydrogen passenger trains being developed for Romania’s Railway Reform Authority. The order represents the largest commercial deployment of the Mireo Plus H platform to date and its first outside Germany. Fuel cell deliveries are scheduled for 2027 and 2028, with passenger operations expected to begin in 2029. The project extends the companies’ hydrogen rail technology relationship established in 2022.
