Jyoti Structures Wins ₹689.93 Crore Contract for 765 kV Transmission Line in Gujarat
Indian power infrastructure contractor Jyoti Structures has received a ₹689.93 crore contract from Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation for a high-voltage electricity transmission project. Announced October 23, the order covers the 765 kV double-circuit Pachchham–Saykha transmission line in Gujarat. Jyoti Structures will undertake engineering, design, equipment supply, tower erection, testing and commissioning under a turnkey contract. The project is scheduled for completion within 42 months of the letter of award. The disclosed contract value excludes goods and services tax. The transmission line will strengthen Gujarat’s electricity network infrastructure, which is supporting substantial renewable-energy development and increasing power transfer requirements. The company has not disclosed the final transmission route length.
Germany Revises Offshore Wind Grid Plan to Save Billions While Retaining 70 GW Target
Germany’s Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency has published a preliminary offshore wind development plan maintaining the country’s 70 GW capacity target for 2045. Announced October 22 and reported internationally October 23, the proposal would eliminate five previously planned offshore grid connections, potentially saving tens of billions of euros. The revised approach allows installed turbine capacity to exceed grid connection capacity, improving utilisation because turbines rarely operate at maximum output simultaneously. Newly designated offshore wind areas would generally accommodate approximately 1,100 MW, compared with 2,000 MW under previous planning assumptions. Germany currently has approximately 11 GW of offshore wind capacity. Public consultation remains open until December 3, 2026, with further planning work required before the 2028 auctions.
Italy Adds 5.3 GW Renewable Capacity in Nine Months, Reaching 88.8 GW Installed Base
Italy installed 5,263 MW of renewable-energy capacity during January–September 2026, taking total installed renewable capacity to 88,792 MW. Figures released by electricity transmission operator Terna on October 21 show that September additions reached 675 MW, including 657 MW of solar capacity. Installed solar generation capacity stood at 48,347 MW, while wind reached 14,050 MW. Italy also reported 20 GWh of electricity storage capacity and 8.3 GW of storage power. Solar generation increased 27.1 percent year on year during September, reaching 5.32 TWh. Renewable electricity supplied 39.4 percent of national electricity demand during the month. Electricity consumption increased 6.5 percent to 27.8 TWh.
