The latest renewable energy news includes announcements from Erova Energy, Danske Commodities, ARENA, Finlight, Revera Energy, Kincardine battery storage project, and others.

Erova Signs 15-Year PPA for Finlight’s 107 MW English Solar Portfolio

Energy trader Erova Energy Group has signed a 15-year power purchase agreement with Finlight covering a 107 MW portfolio of solar projects in England. The long-duration agreement provides Finlight with a route to market for electricity generated by the photovoltaic assets while Erova handles power trading and optimisation. Long-term PPAs are increasingly important for UK solar developers because contracted revenues improve project bankability and reduce exposure to volatile wholesale electricity prices. Erova, now owned by Macquarie Group, manages renewable-generation revenues through trading, balancing and PPA services and says its platform already covers 3.2 GW of PPAs. The Finlight agreement therefore adds another sizeable utility-scale photovoltaic portfolio to Erova’s rapidly expanding renewable-energy optimisation business.

Danske Commodities Signs Optimisation Deal for 400 MW / 800 MWh Scottish Battery

Danske Commodities will provide route-to-market and optimisation services for Revera Energy’s 400 MW/800 MWh Kincardine battery storage project in Scotland. The two-hour BESS forms part of Revera’s Scottish storage portfolio, which includes three projects representing almost 2 GWh of combined storage capacity and more than £500 million of investment. Danske Commodities’ commercial structure includes a 10-year revenue-floor arrangement covering 100% of project capacity, providing greater revenue certainty while retaining opportunities in electricity and ancillary-services markets. Commercial operation is targeted for Q1 2028. The project will help manage transmission constraints in Scotland, where high wind output frequently creates periods of surplus renewable generation.

ARENA Awards AUD 25 Million to Test Solar Robots and Automation in Australia

The Australian Renewable Energy Agency has awarded AUD 25 million to Equans Solar & Storage for a three-year programme aimed at reducing the cost of constructing and operating utility-scale solar farms. The Lightspeed project will test and deploy up to 10 technologies across Equans’ Australian solar and storage pipeline, covering civil works, mechanical and electrical construction, operations and maintenance, and digital coordination. The first deployment will involve the Nextpower Ranger autonomous inspection robot, marking its first use at an Australian solar farm. ARENA expects robotics, AI and digital systems to improve construction productivity and help lower solar’s levelised cost of energy as Australia accelerates renewable deployment.
