Canadian Solar’s 940 kWh KuBank 3.0 Passes UL 9540A Battery Fire Test
Canadian Solar’s e-STORAGE unit has completed large-scale fire testing of its KuBank 3.0 commercial and industrial battery system under the new UL 9540A:2026 standard. Each liquid-cooled cabinet provides up to 940 kWh of storage using 314 Ah lithium iron phosphate cells and supports 400 V, 690 V and 800 V electrical architectures. Test engineers intentionally triggered thermal runaway in a fully charged 940 kWh system while disabling fire suppression. During an approximately four-hour fire, there was no explosion, cabinet integrity was maintained and flames did not propagate to neighbouring units. TÜV Rheinland and Energy Safety Response Group independently witnessed the test. KuBank 3.0 has entered mass production and is now commercially available worldwide.
PVFARM Launches RE STACK to Automate Utility-Scale Battery Storage Design
PVFARM has launched RE STACK, a software platform designed to automate early-stage engineering of utility-scale battery energy storage projects. The system lets developers configure battery containers, PCS and inverter units, transformers, spacing requirements, roads and medium-voltage collection systems before detailed engineering begins. More than 80 companies participated in beta development across RE STACK and companion product RE PILOT, while 45 organisations enrolled in the RE STACK beta within less than one month. The software can automatically generate and compare thousands of BESS layout alternatives, allowing developers and EPC companies to test equipment combinations, site constraints and network designs much faster than conventional manual planning. The technology targets a major bottleneck as global battery-storage project pipelines expand rapidly.
Recurrent Energy Starts 150 MW Carwarp Solar Project Under Microsoft PPA
Recurrent Energy has started operations at the 150 MWac Carwarp Energy Park near Mildura in Victoria, Australia, supported by a long-term power purchase agreement with Microsoft. The solar facility uses approximately 243,000 Canadian Solar TOPCon modules and is expected to generate around 405 GWh annually, enough for about 65,000 Australian households. Carwarp connects to Australia’s National Electricity Market through the 220 kV Victorian transmission network and already has planning and grid approvals for a future 120 MW battery energy storage system. Recurrent estimates the project will avoid approximately 227,000 tonnes of CO2 annually, equivalent to removing more than 49,000 combustion-engine vehicles. Construction supported approximately 300 jobs, alongside a dedicated local community-benefit fund.
Hyosung Captures 71 Percent of New Orders From U.S. as Grid Modernisation Accelerates Hyosung Heavy Industries says the United States accounted for 71 percent of KRW 7.5 trillion in new orders secured during the first half of 2026 as utilities expand high-voltage grid infrastructure to support growing electricity demand. The company has raised its annual new-order target to KRW 12 trillion. Hyosung has supplied nearly half of the 765 kV ultra-high-voltage transformers currently installed in the U.S. transmission grid and says it has held the leading U.S. 765 kV transformer market position since the early 2010s. Demand is being supported by grid upgrades and rapid expansion of AI data centers, renewable generation and electrification. Hyosung is using its Memphis manufacturing operation and localised supply chain to expand transformer and grid-equipment capacity in the U.S. market.
