Canadian Solar Begins Commissioning 240 MW/960 MWh Summerfield Battery in Australia
Canadian Solar subsidiary e-STORAGE has started commissioning the 240 MW/960 MWh Summerfield battery energy storage project in South Australia. The four-hour installation is located near Mannum, approximately 55 kilometres east of Adelaide. The project is owned by Intera Renewables, an investment platform associated with Palisade Investment Partners. e-STORAGE supplied more than 200 SolBank 3.0 battery containers under a turnkey engineering, procurement and construction contract. It will also provide long-term maintenance and operational support. Origin Energy has signed a 10-year agreement covering the project’s electricity output. Testing and commissioning will continue through the remainder of 2026, with full commercial operation expected in 2027.
Ib Vogt Secures Approvals for 288 MW Solar and 1,920 MWh Battery Projects in Australia
German renewable-energy developer ib vogt has secured planning and grid connection milestones for Australian projects comprising 288 MW of solar capacity and 480 MW/1,920 MWh of battery storage. The 120 MW/480 MWh Wagga North battery in New South Wales has obtained planning and connection approvals. In Tasmania, the 288 MW Cimitiere Plains solar farm has received planning permission and grid connection approval. It is expected to generate approximately 620 GWh annually. In Victoria, the 360 MW/1,440 MWh Giddi battery has received planning approval and represents an estimated A$550 million investment. A separate 200 MW solar and 200 MW/800 MWh battery project at Trafalgar East remains under assessment.
