ACWA Power Moves $2.6 Billion, 1.5 GW Uzbekistan Wind Project into Active Construction
ACWA Power has moved its 1.5 GW Kungrad wind project in Uzbekistan’s Karakalpakstan region into active implementation. The project represents an investment of about $2.6 billion and includes major transmission infrastructure required to integrate the wind farm with Uzbekistan’s national grid. Plans call for more than 1,400 km of high-voltage lines, construction of three 500 kV substations and modernisation of two others. Around 1,000 local jobs are expected, while approximately $750 million is targeted for locally supplied goods and services. The latest milestone shifts the development from planning toward physical execution of generation and transmission infrastructure.
RWE Takes FID on 400 MW / 1.1 GWh Battery Project in the Netherlands
RWE has taken a final investment decision to build a 400 MW/1.1 GWh battery energy storage system in the Netherlands, creating one of the country’s largest storage projects. The system is designed specifically to provide flexibility as increasing volumes of offshore wind generation connect to the Dutch electricity network. With 1.1 GWh of storage, the battery will be capable of shifting substantial renewable electricity between periods of high generation and higher system demand. Final investment decision is the key new milestone because it converts the project from development into a committed investment. The BESS will complement RWE’s expanding European portfolio of wind, solar and flexible generation assets.
Premier Energies Commissions ₹32.93 Billion 7 GW TOPCon Solar Cell Factory in India
Premier Energies has commissioned a 7 GW N-type TOPCon G12R solar-cell factory at Naidupeta in Andhra Pradesh, lifting its total cell capacity to 10.6 GW. The ₹32.93 billion facility occupies 101 acres and can manufacture approximately 88,000 solar cells per hour. Trial production has started, with average cell efficiency targeted at around 25.8 percent after ramp-up. Digital systems and AI support process control and predictive performance analysis. Premier Energies is also pursuing a wider ₹125 billion three-year capital expenditure programme, including upstream ingot and wafer capacity and battery storage manufacturing. The September 21 commissioning represents completed manufacturing capacity rather than a proposed factory investment.
