CHINT Targets Europe’s €900 Billion Grid-Modernisation Opportunity
CHINT will present transmission, distribution, battery-storage and data-centre power technologies at CIGRE 2026 in Paris from August 23 to 28, targeting Europe’s grid-modernisation requirements. The announcement cites an ETIP SNET position paper estimating that Europe will need €650 billion to €900 billion of grid investment between 2026 and 2035. CHINT’s portfolio includes 1,000 kV and 750 kV transformers, natural-ester transformer designs and sulfur-hexafluoride-free switchgear rated at 24 kV, 145 kV and 420 kV. Energy-storage and digital-infrastructure offerings include cascading storage systems, 13.8 MW power-conversion-system integrated substations, solid-state transformers, semiconductor circuit breakers and data-centre power pods. The technologies address renewable integration, electrification and rising AI data-centre demand, although the release announces a product showcase rather than a customer contract or deployment.
US Battery and Recycling Groups Launch National Safety Partnership
The Battery Network signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Waste & Recycling Association and National Waste & Recycling Foundation to strengthen battery-safety education and recovery across the United States. The partners will expand outreach, engagement, collection initiatives and resources for waste and recycling operators handling volumes of end-of-life batteries. The effort builds on the foundation’s “Skip the Bin! Turn Your Batteries In!” campaign, which encourages consumers to keep batteries out of rubbish and recycling streams. Improperly discarded batteries can create fire risks during collection, transport and processing, making recovery infrastructure important as battery adoption rises. The announcement provides no investment amount, collection target or implementation timetable, but establishes a national framework for safer disposal, education and materials recovery.
BLUETTI Launches 500 W Foldable Solar Panel for US Off-Grid Market
BLUETTI launched the SORA 500 portable solar panel in the United States, targeting recreational vehicles, camping and off-grid applications. The foldable unit provides 500 W of rated output while packing into a 22.4 by 17.5 by 3.3-inch frame and weighing 28.4 pounds. N-type monocrystalline cells deliver claimed conversion efficiency of up to 25 percent, while an ETFE-coated surface and IP67 dust-and-water resistance support outdoor use. A standard MC4 connector enables compatibility with suitable solar generators and portable power stations. Third-party testing cited by BLUETTI recorded output up to 509 W. The panel is available at a $799 launch price. BLUETTI also positions it with systems ranging from the 2.8 kWh-to-19.4 kWh Apex 300 to a 5 kWh RV kit nationwide.
Recurrent Energy Starts 150 MW Australian Solar Park Under Microsoft PPA
Recurrent Energy’s 150 MWac Carwarp Energy Park near Mildura, Victoria, has entered commercial operation under a long-term Microsoft power-purchase agreement. The Australian solar facility uses approximately 243,000 Canadian Solar TOPCon modules and should generate around 405 GWh annually, enough for approximately 65,000 households. It is expected to avoid 227,000 tonnes of carbon-dioxide emissions yearly, equivalent to removing more than 49,000 combustion-engine vehicles. Carwarp connects through Victoria’s 220 kV transmission network and holds approvals for a hybrid 120 MW battery-storage system. Construction supported approximately 300 jobs. Recurrent Energy also created a community-benefit fund administered by Groundswell Giving and the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal. Commercial operation was achieved ahead of schedule, strengthening Victoria’s renewable-energy supply and future grid flexibility network.
