Today’s renewable energy news include announcements on Tilt Renewables, Vestas, Calderdale Wind Farm, among others.
Tilt Renewables Opens 396 MW Rye Park Wind Farm in Australia
Tilt Renewables has launched the 396 MW Rye Park Wind Farm in New South Wales, featuring 66 Vestas V162-6.0MW turbines. The facility is expected to generate 1,188 GWh annually, with electricity contracted to Newcrest Mining and AGL Energy. The project began supplying power to the grid in August 2023 and was fully commissioned by mid-2024. The wind farm plays a crucial role in Australia’s renewable energy expansion and contributes to the country’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable energy sources.
Vestas Secures 65 MW Turbine Order for Kloddram Wind Project in Germany
Vestas has received a 65 MW order from Lindenhof GmbH for the Kloddram wind project in Germany. The project will feature nine V162-7.2 MW turbines from Vestas’ EnVentus platform. Delivery is scheduled to begin in Q4 2026, with commissioning planned for Q2 2027. The agreement includes a 20-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service contract. This project contributes to Germany’s renewable energy expansion and supports the country’s transition to a low-carbon economy.
Calderdale Wind Farm Reduces Turbine Count to 41 in New Design
The Calderdale Wind Farm project in northern England has unveiled revised plans, reducing the number of turbines from 65 to 41. This adjustment aims to minimize environmental and visual impacts while maintaining the project’s capacity to generate up to 300 MW of renewable energy. The proposed site, located on Walshaw Moor near Hebden Bridge, covers over 2,300 hectares. If approved, the wind farm could supply power to approximately 286,000 homes and contribute to the UK’s net-zero emissions target. A non-statutory consultation with the local community is planned for Spring.
