Today’s renewable energy news includes announcements on South Korea’s offshore wind tender, Nordex wind turbine orders in France, LONGi, among others.
South Korea Launches 1.25 GW Offshore Wind Tender
South Korea’s Energy Agency has initiated a competitive bidding process for 1.25 GW of fixed-bottom offshore wind capacity and 1 GW of solar projects in the first half of 2025. The offshore wind tender allocates 500 MW to a public-led bidding market and 750 MW to a general bidding market. A new security index will be introduced in the evaluation criteria, emphasizing the stability of power generation facilities and energy supply. The ceiling price for fixed-bottom offshore wind remains at KRW 176,565 (EUR 113.33) per MWh. Floating offshore wind and onshore wind tenders are planned for the second half of the year, with capacities determined by demand and remaining volume.
Nordex Wins 65 MW Wind Turbine Orders in France
Nordex Group has secured two contracts in France for wind turbine supply and installation totaling 64.7 MW. The orders include six N163/5.X, six N131/3.X, and one N149/5.X turbine. Each contract includes multi-year service agreements. Installation is planned for mid-2026 across two sites: Morbihan, using 3 MW-class turbines with 84-meter hub heights, and Aisne, deploying 5 MW-class turbines on 118- and 125-meter towers. The projects’ names and clients remain undisclosed. These orders further expand Nordex’s footprint in France’s onshore wind market and support regional renewable energy capacity growth.
LONGi Secures 102 MW Solar Module Deal in Finland
LONGi Green Energy has signed a deal to supply 102 MW of Hi-MO X10 back contact solar modules to a Finnish energy company. The modules will be used in various public infrastructure projects, including hospitals, schools, shopping centers, and warehouses. This deployment aims to lower electricity costs and reduce emissions. The Hi-MO X10 modules are designed for high efficiency in low-light and snowy environments, making them suitable for Finland’s climate. The project supports Finland’s national target of reaching carbon neutrality by 2035 and aligns with its clean energy transition strategy.
