Strategically, the initiative aligns with Texas’ broader clean energy transition, positioning Austin Energy as a leader in sustainable grid modernization and long-term renewable integration.
Volvo Electric Trucks Surpass 250 Million Kilometers, Cutting 213,000 Tonnes of CO₂ Emissions
Volvo’s fleet of electric trucks has collectively driven over 250 million kilometers in commercial operations since 2019 — equivalent to 6,200 laps around the world. This achievement underscores Volvo’s leadership in sustainable transport and its contribution to reducing the global carbon footprint of freight.
By replacing diesel-powered trucks for the same distance, Volvo’s electric fleet has prevented the consumption of 78 million liters of diesel and cut 213,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions. The largest markets for these electric trucks include Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and the US.
Volvo currently offers eight electric truck models — including the FL Electric, FMX Electric, and FH Aero Electric — serving applications from urban logistics to regional haulage and construction. Looking ahead, Volvo plans to launch a heavy-duty electric truck with up to 600 km range in 2026, further strengthening its commitment to zero-emission transport solutions.
