Today’s renewable energy news includes announcements on Invenergy’s solar farm in Ohio, SolarBank, ERCOT Battery Storage Project, among others.

Invenergy Plans 180 MW Solar Farm in Ohio

Invenergy is set to develop the 180 MW Sloopy Solar Energy Center in Ohio, expected to generate enough clean electricity to power over 33,000 homes annually. This project expands Invenergy’s renewable portfolio in the Midwest and supports Ohio’s energy transition. The company recently completed the 150 MW Hardin II Solar project and plans to begin construction on two more Ohio solar projects in 2025. The Sloopy Solar Energy Center will enhance grid reliability and contribute significantly to regional clean energy capacity growth.

SolarBank Develops 6.9 MW Community Solar Project in Nova Scotia

SolarBank Corporation is developing a 6.9 MW community solar project in Brooklyn, Nova Scotia, under the province’s Community Solar Program (CSP) — the first of its kind in Canada. This initiative aims to provide clean energy to approximately 900 homes, supporting Nova Scotia’s commitment to achieving 80 percent renewable electricity by 2030. The Brooklyn project is designed to enhance energy accessibility for residents who may not have suitable rooftops for solar installations. Construction is underway, with the project expected to be operational in 2026.

OCI Energy, CPS Energy, and LG Energy Solution Vertech Partner for ERCOT Battery Storage Project

OCI Energy, CPS Energy, and LG Energy Solution Vertech have signed an agreement to develop a major battery energy storage system (BESS) in Texas. LG Energy Solution Vertech will supply the battery storage and energy management technology, while OCI Energy will manage development, financing, and operation. CPS Energy will provide electricity demand support for the San Antonio area. The project aims to improve grid stability and facilitate renewable energy integration in ERCOT’s network, supporting Texas’s efforts to modernize energy infrastructure and promote clean energy solutions.
