Lebanon Signs Revised Solar PPAs to Advance 165 MW Renewable Energy Pipeline
Lebanon’s Ministry of Energy and Water has signed amended power purchase agreements with solar developers C.D.N. and EONE, advancing efforts to activate previously licensed photovoltaic projects. The agreements form part of 11 solar generation licences issued in 2022, associated with a broader pipeline of approximately 165 MW. Energy Minister Joe Saddi signed the revised contracts after restarting the licensing programme. The original agreements were signed in 2023, but project development had faced financing and implementation difficulties. The latest contractual changes complete additional procedures required for the two developers to progress their projects. The ministry is continuing work on the remaining licensed developments. Individual project investment amounts, construction schedules and financing commitments were not disclosed.
Wirsol to Build 9.4 MW Solar Farm with 15 MWh Battery Storage in Germany
German renewable-energy developer Wirsol has announced plans to construct the 9.435 MWp Parensen solar park with approximately 15 MWh of battery storage in Nörten-Hardenberg, Lower Saxony. The project will comprise 39 independently owned photovoltaic installations, each rated at approximately 242 kWp, across 11 hectares. Construction is scheduled to begin in October 2026, with commissioning targeted for Q2 2027. Annual electricity generation is estimated at 9,560 MWh, equivalent to consumption by approximately 2,570 households. Canadian Solar will supply photovoltaic modules, while Huawei FusionSolar will provide inverters and battery technology. Wirsol will manage planning, construction and subsequent operations. Investors can acquire individual installations with rights to use the shared storage system.
Lodestone Energy Signs Renewable Electricity Agreements with Briscoe Group and Farro
New Zealand solar developer Lodestone Energy has signed renewable electricity supply agreements with retailers Briscoe Group and Farro, expanding its commercial customer portfolio. The Briscoe agreement will match electricity consumption across its retail network with renewable generation from Lodestone’s solar farms through renewable-energy certificates. Lodestone currently owns and operates five utility-scale solar farms, producing electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of more than 33,000 New Zealand households. A sixth solar project is under construction. The company is targeting 16–18 operational solar farms by 2032. Lodestone is also pursuing an initial public offering seeking NZ$75 million–NZ$100 million to finance additional solar construction and customer expansion. Contract prices and electricity volumes were not disclosed.
EWE and VERBUND Form Joint Venture for 500 MW Green Hydrogen Project in Germany
German energy company EWE and Austrian electricity producer VERBUND have formed a joint venture to develop the CHC Elektrolyse JadeWeser green hydrogen project in Lower Saxony, Germany. The proposed facility will feature an electrolyser with capacity of up to 500 MW, producing approximately 50,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually. The project is planned for the Wesermarsch region near Nordenham and will connect to Germany’s future hydrogen transmission network. Production could begin in 2032, supplying industrial, transport and energy customers. The partners will develop the project through EWE Hydrogen and VERBUND Green Hydrogen. Together, the companies already have approximately 400 MW of hydrogen projects operating or under implementation. Investment value and final construction approval remain outstanding.
