Toyota reveals number of electrified vehicles sold in April-June

Toyota said the proportion of electrified vehicles sold during April-June 2024 increased to 43.2 percent, mainly due to the strong performance of HEVs overseas.

Toyota has sold 1,075,000 electric vehicles. This includes 998,000 HEV, 34,000 PHEV, and 43,000 BEV during April-June.

Consolidated vehicle sales for this period were at 2 million 252 thousand units, which was 96.8 percent of consolidated vehicle sales for the same period of the previous fiscal year

Toyota and Lexus vehicle sales were 2 million 491 thousand units, which was 98.1 percent of such sales for the same period of the previous fiscal year.

Sales and production volumes decreased in Japan due to factors such as efforts to strengthen our foundations, certification issues, and recalls. On the other hand, sales in North America, Europe, and Asia have increased.

Toyota has reported revenue of 11,837.8 billion yen, operating income of 1,308.4 billion yen and net income of 1 trillion 333.3 billion yen during the quarter.

Toyota said cost reduction efforts increased operating income by 55 billion. This reflects 95 billion yen in the gross effects of cost reduction efforts, and 40 billion yen of strengthening foundation of suppliers and material prices.

Toyota said marketing efforts increased operating income by 70 billion yen due to improvements in model mix through an increase in the ratio of HEVs, expansion of the value chain, and price revision efforts. An increase in expenses decreased operating income by 225 billion yen due to such factors as an increase in labor costs and R&D expenses. Other factors decreased operating income by 82.5 billion yen.
