CS PowerTech has launched the first U.S. manufacturing facility dedicated to heterojunction (HJT) solar cells in Jeffersonville, Indiana, marking a major milestone for domestic solar manufacturing. Backed by a nearly $1 billion investment, the plant will create more than 1,200 jobs and reach an annual production capacity of 6 GW of next-generation HJT solar cells when fully operational by early 2027. The high-efficiency cells will supply Canadian Solar’s expanding 10 GW module manufacturing facility in Mesquite, Texas, reducing dependence on imported solar cells while strengthening the U.S. solar supply chain and supporting advanced clean energy manufacturing incentives.
