RWE has secured 151 megawatts in the most recent bidding round organized by the French Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE).

This round, focused on onshore wind energy, covered a total capacity of 930 megawatts, with an average awarded price of €87.61 per megawatt-hour.

Out of the total awarded capacity, RWE received seven projects, amounting to 183 megawatts in total, with a prorated share of 151 megawatts. Five of these projects are entirely owned by RWE, underscoring the company’s independent capabilities, while the remaining two projects are joint ventures — one in collaboration with Vent du Nord and the other with Escofi.

This outcome places RWE ahead of 22 other selected companies, establishing it as the top performer in this competitive auction. It also builds upon RWE’s recent momentum following its success in France’s latest solar auctions, reinforcing the company’s position as a major force in the French renewables market.

The awarded projects feature a total of 35 wind turbines distributed across four key French regions: Centre-Val de Loire, Grand Est, Hauts-de-France, and Normandy. This broad geographic spread reflects RWE’s strategic approach to diversifying its energy portfolio and optimizing regional wind resources. The projects are scheduled to begin coming online as early as 2027, with further turbine installations expected into 2028.

Katja Wunschel, CEO of RWE Renewables Europe & Australia, has credited the accomplishment to the company’s experienced team and the consistent quality of its renewable energy initiatives, underscoring RWE’s growing role in driving France’s energy transition.
