EDF Renewable Energy announced that the 5.86 MW Lancaster Solar Project has begun the commercial operation.

EDF Renewable Energy (EDF RE) and Urban Green Technologies (UGT), solar developer, signed the Membership Interest Purchase and Sale Agreement (MIPSA) with construction work starting from December 2013.

The solar photovoltaic project, located at the former Shirley Airport, Massachusetts, is comprised of 19,000 Canadian Solar modules. The electricity generated is supplied to the Town of Billerica of Massachusetts as per the State’s Virtual Net Metering Credits Program under the Power Purchase Agreement.

EDF Renewable Services will provide operations and maintenance for the plant, project oversight, and 24/7 remote monitoring from its Operations Control Centre.

EDF Renewable Services’ Operations Control Center (OCC) manages renewable projects across North America. The OCC is a secure operating platform, with benefits from the centralization of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) functions and SCADA environments with a common operating view.
