A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), Govt of India, and Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) to cooperate on a number of solar energy initiatives in India involving 2000 MW of capacity.
The MoU was represented by Satish B. Agnihotri, IAS, secretary to Govt of India, and Rajendra Nimje, ex-IAS, MD of SECI.
Highlights of the MoU include the financial closure of 750 MW under phase-2 batch-1 of JNNSM, setting up of 1000 MW under next phase of MNRE Â Scheme under JNNSM, setting up of 100MW CSP projects, commissioning of 25MW of Roof-top PV projects and allocation of 50MW Grid-connected Roof-Top scheme, SECI said.
Additionally the MoU calls for participation of SECI in solarisation of  primary health centers, 2.5 MW solar-wind-battery integrated project for KAZA and (2 – 5 MW capacity)  for Kargil solar project under research & development project and setting up of micro/ mini-grid projects.
The MoU complements SECI’s vision to lead the development of large scale solar  installations, solar plants and solar parks as well as to promote and commercialize the use of solar energy to reach the remotest corner of India. The association also strives to play a lead role in the development and deployment of new technologies including R&D to harness solar energy.
