Vestas has secured a 58 MW wind turbine order in Germany for the Uberhasiges Viertel project, adding another major contract to its European onshore wind portfolio.
The order from Windpark Uberhasiges Viertel Projekt GmbH covers eight Vestas V172-7.2 MW wind turbines and includes a 20-year AOM 5000 service agreement. Turbine delivery is planned to begin in Q2 2027, while commissioning is scheduled to start in Q4 2028.
The Vestas contract forms part of the larger Uberhasiges Viertel wind development in Loningen, Lower Saxony, which has been developed through cooperation involving renewable energy developer PNE Group and regional Volksbanken.
Uberhasiges Viertel Wind Project Targets Around 86 MW
The wider Uberhasiges Viertel project was approved in 2025 for 12 wind turbines with 86.4 MW of total capacity. PNE later reported that the project secured an award in Germany’s onshore wind tender with 85.8 MW across 12 turbines.
The latest Vestas order covers eight V172-7.2 MW turbines representing 57.6 MW of nameplate capacity, rounded to 58 MW in the order announcement. The contract therefore represents a substantial portion of the wider 12-turbine development.
The investment value of the Vestas turbine contract has not been disclosed.
PNE and Volksbanken Back German Wind Project
The Uberhasiges Viertel wind project developed by PNE and Volksbanken is designed to combine large-scale renewable energy development with local participation.
PNE has said ownership rights for the planned 12 turbines will ultimately be divided among PNE, local landowners and citizens of Loningen. Local residents are expected to have an opportunity to participate financially through a community wind farm structure, helping retain part of the project’s economic benefits within the region.
The project received approval under Germany’s Federal Immission Control Act in August 2025, clearing an important regulatory milestone before construction.
Wind Farm Could Supply Around 52,000 Households
Once operational, the full Uberhasiges Viertel wind farm is expected to generate enough renewable electricity to supply approximately 52,000 three-person households annually, according to PNE.
The project also secured support through Germany’s onshore wind tender system. In October 2025, PNE said Uberhasiges Viertel had been successful in the country’s third onshore wind tender round, covering 12 turbines and 85.8 MW.
The tender award provides an important foundation for the project’s long-term revenue as it advances from development toward construction.
Vestas Deploys 7.2 MW Onshore Wind Turbines
Vestas will supply its V172-7.2 MW turbines, part of the company’s EnVentus onshore wind platform. The eight turbines provide a combined nameplate capacity of 57.6 MW.
The 20-year AOM 5000 service agreement will give Vestas a long-term role in the project beyond turbine supply, covering operations and maintenance services aimed at supporting turbine availability and performance.
For Vestas, the Uberhasiges Viertel order strengthens its position in Germany’s expanding onshore wind market. For PNE and its regional partners, the turbine contract represents another significant step toward bringing the approximately 86 MW project into operation.
With deliveries starting in Q2 2027 and commissioning scheduled from Q4 2028, Uberhasiges Viertel will contribute additional renewable generation capacity to Germany while combining utility-scale wind development with local community participation.
