Sindh Government to allot 26,000 acres for wind projects in Sindh

Greentech Lead Asia: The Sindh government will grant
26,000 acres of state land to construct wind farms in the province.

The land will be allotted among four local investors and
eight foreign investors who are expected to generate 3,000 MW power within 18
months.

This decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim
Ali Shah regarding grant of state land for producing alternate energy through
construction of wind turbines.

The chief minister stressed that efforts be made for
power generation from coal together with the alternate energy to be obtained
through construction of wind turbines.

The government decided to create a precious corridor of
wind in Jhimpir and allot land for wind power project First wind
power project in Nigeria will be commissioned in Kastina in July  in
Thatta and Jamshoro districts.  The new investments in windmills will be
finalized after talks with federal government while the previous allotments
will be continued in consultation and cooperation of the allottees.

Land will be allotted in blocks for 30 years lease at the
rent of Rs500 per acre per annum for first ten years and minimum rent of Rs50
per square yard per annum will be charged. The area under direct impact will be
leased which include turbine, switch room, service road, electrical cables and
service facility.

Pakistan Govt likely to waive duty on renewable energy plants
equipment import

Recently, the Alternative Energy Development Board of
Pakistan submitted proposals to the Ministry of Finance to waive duties on
import of parts of renewable energy plants
