Gamesa enters into turnkey contract for first German wind farm supply

Gamesa turbine

Gamesa has received its first German order from DEW 21 to supply turbines for the 12-MW Horst wind farm under a turnkey arrangement.

The farm will be equipped with six G97-2.0 MW turbines to be delivered from July.

The commissioning of the farm is scheduled for November 2015.

Gamesa will be responsible for developing the wind farm including the required licenses and permits, performing the civil engineering and electrical wiring work to build and operate the project.

In addition, transporting, installing and commissioning of wind turbines will also be managed by Gamesa.

The farm located in the town of Schneverdingen in Lower Saxony is expected to generate enough electricity to supply over 8,500 homes annually.

In another initiative, Gamesa signed an agreement with Greenko, an independent power producer in India, to develop 300 MW wind power in the country.

Out of the 300 MW agreement, the first phase of 160 MW is already underway and the project is expected to be commissioned by June 2015. Under this, Gamesa will install 80 of its G97-2.0 MW turbines in identified sites in Karnataka and Rajasthan.

The second phase of 140 MW is expected to be secured by April 2015. Under this, Gamesa will supply 70 of its G97-2.0MW – T-104 turbines in identified sites in the states of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

Recently, Gamesa secured a supply order for 54 of its G114-2.0 MW turbines to various wind farms in União dos Ventos complex located at Rio Grande do Norte in north-eastern Brazil.

The 150 MW wind project is expected to be completed by the end of 2017.

It has been reported that Germany has built a massive wind power of 5.2GW with new capacity during 2014.

The report also reveals that Germany was by far the biggest market last year, installing nearly half of new wind farms in the EU.
