Greentech Lead America: Xylem, a provider of water preservation and treatment technologies, has announced greenhouse gas emissions reduction of 26.2 percent, a waste disposal reduction of 32 percent, an energy consumption reduction of 5.7 percent and a water use reduction of 9.1 percent.
The new sustainability report entitled, “A Drop is Everything” details Xylem’s accomplishments in the area of sustainability for its worldwide operations in 2012, the company’s first full calendar year as a stand-alone company.
“Xylem sees sustainability as a multi-faceted goal – environmental, economic and social – and last year, 2012, was year two of what we see as a decades-long journey to lead, not only through our world-class products, but also through our commitment to strengthening the communities where Xylem works around the world,” said Chris McIntire, president of Xylem’s Analytics business and chief sustainability officer.
This report continues what Xylem began in its debut sustainability report published in September 2012. While this report offers a baseline snapshot of Xylem’s accomplishments since the previous report, over time, Xylem plans to report on long-term trends.
Xylem has reported 2012 revenues of $3.8 billion and approximately 12,700 employees worldwide. In 2012, Xylem was named to the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for advancing sustainable business practices and solutions worldwide.
