STW to validate OriginOil Frack Water recycling technology

OriginOil, developer of Electro Water Separation (EWS) and STW Resources jointly announced plans to demonstrate OriginOil’s CLEAN-FRAC solution at a disposal well site in the Permian Basin.

The OriginOil’s technology is impressive and the water quality tests to date show compelling results and the system’s operating costs are significantly lower than other technologies on the market, stated, Stanley Weiner, chairman, CEO, STW.

Testing and demonstrating the CLEAN-FRAC process on West Texas water is the next step in commercial implementation. These sales demonstrations will promote system installations at multiple sites in Permian and Eagle Ford regions, added, Weiner.

STW Resources designs, builds, owns and operates water reclamation and processing projects. They are unsure in their decisions to choose the right water treatment technology, which affirms their belief in this technology, said, Bill Charneski, president, OriginOil’s Oil & Gas Division.

The CLEAN-FRAC product partners OriginOil’s Electro Water Separation with proven polishing technologies, to clean produced and flowback water to desired levels of purity.

For the demonstration, OriginOil will provide a CLEAN-FRAC 1000 unit, designed to operate at a 1000 barrel per day capacity. The iSep UltraFiltration membrane system from TriSep will be utilized in conjunction with OriginOil’s EWS system.

Processing of both frac flowback and produced water from regional oil and gas wells, which will constitute a totally different influent water quality than water flowing back from gas wells in Colorado will be conducted, stated Lee Portillo, vice president, Engineering for OriginOil.

Over a period of three months, OriginOil conducted tests in Delta, Colorado on CLEAN-FRAC’s ability to remove contaminants and require minimum energy input.

In combination with iSep, water turbidity, suspended solids and oil in water were reduced by as much as 99 percent during testing.

Energy usage with the CLEAN-FRAC system is low, thus making it an economically feasible application for oilfield water processing.
