APA Corporation’s Sustainability Report highlights improvements in emissions management, methane reduction, electrification, water conservation, environmental stewardship and workplace safety during the 2025 reporting year.

The energy company reduced operated Scope 1 emissions to 6.124 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent, lowered operated Scope 2 emissions to 272,000 tonnes, maintained U.S. onshore flaring intensity at 0.84 percent, and cut freshwater consumption by 66 percent.

APA also exceeded its long-term Scope 1 greenhouse gas intensity reduction goal against the 2021 baseline and achieved the Oil and Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 Gold Standard Pathway for the second consecutive year, APA Sustainability Report 2025 indicated.

“We exceeded our long-term Scope 1 greenhouse gas (GHG) intensity reduction goal, as well as our biodiversity reclamation goal, which we achieved by accelerating the restoration of approximately 300 well pads,” John J. Christmann IV, Chief Executive Officer of APA, said.

APA reduces Scope 1 emissions to 6.124 million tonnes

APA’s operated Scope 1 greenhouse gas emissions declined from 6.225 million tonnes of CO₂e in 2024 to 6.124 million tonnes in 2025.

Carbon dioxide represented the largest component of Scope 1 emissions at 5.239 million tonnes of CO₂e, accounting for 85.5 percent of the total. Methane emissions reached 857,000 tonnes of CO₂e, representing 14 percent, while nitrous oxide emissions totaled 28,000 tonnes of CO₂e, or 0.5 percent.

Fuel combustion remained the largest emissions source at 4.023 million tonnes of CO₂e. Flaring generated 1.404 million tonnes, venting contributed 519,000 tonnes, and fugitive emissions totaled 178,000 tonnes.

APA’s operated Scope 2 emissions declined sharply to 272,000 tonnes of CO₂e in 2025 from 445,000 tonnes in 2024.

Greenhouse gas and methane intensity improve from 2021

APA reported global greenhouse gas emissions intensity of 28.3 kilograms of CO₂e per barrel of oil equivalent in 2025. This compared with 27.2 kilograms in 2024 and 32.4 kilograms in 2021.

Global methane emissions intensity improved to 0.14 kilograms of methane per barrel of oil equivalent from 0.17 kilograms in 2024 and 0.29 kilograms in 2021.

The reduction from the 2021 level reflects continued investment in methane detection, equipment conversions, operational optimization and improved emissions measurement.

APA began a direct methane measurement campaign in the Permian Basin to increase source-level and site-level accuracy and support future emissions mitigation under its OGMP 2.0 commitments.

More than 900 pneumatic devices converted

APA voluntarily converted more than 900 pneumatic devices across the Permian Basin. These devices represented approximately 30 percent of methane emissions associated with the company’s U.S. onshore pneumatic equipment.

The company also converted 69 tank batteries into tankless facilities, reducing potential emissions associated with storage tanks.

In Egypt, electrification projects and produced-water management systems contributed to an 18 percent reduction in diesel consumption.

APA keeps flaring intensity below 1 percent

APA achieved a U.S. onshore flaring intensity of 0.84 percent, outperforming its target of 1 percent or less.

The company has established a new 2026 objective to achieve flaring intensity of 1 percent or lower across its legacy Callon assets.

Flow-control enhancements on the Beryl Alpha platform in the U.K. North Sea also improved gas management and supported lower flaring intensity.

Electrified drilling rig avoids 400,000 gallons of diesel

APA deployed an electrified drilling rig in the Permian Basin as part of its lower-emission drilling strategy.

The project avoided the consumption of more than 400,000 gallons of diesel and prevented approximately 4,500 tonnes of CO₂ emissions.

APA also expanded electrification projects in Egypt, reducing dependence on diesel-powered operations and supporting more efficient water treatment and reinjection.

Total energy consumption reaches 5.03 million MWh

APA’s total energy use reached 5.03 million MWh in 2025.

Combustion energy accounted for 4.23 million MWh, while electricity consumption totaled 800,000 MWh.

The company continues using operational optimization, electrification and energy-management systems to improve efficiency and reduce emissions where practical.

APA reported that operations certified under the ISO 50001:2018 Energy Management System represented 11 percent of revenue and 7 percent of production.

Operations certified under the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System represented 47 percent of revenue and 38 percent of production.

Freshwater consumption falls 66 percent

Water conservation was one of APA’s strongest environmental achievements in 2025.

Freshwater consumption declined by 66 percent compared with 2024, while recycled produced water and brackish nonfresh water represented 98 percent of global water use.

APA reported total water consumption of 42.1 million barrels in 2025, compared with 67.029 million barrels in 2024.

Freshwater consumption fell to 4.173 million barrels from 12.113 million barrels, while nonfreshwater consumption reached 37.927 million barrels.

Produced and nonfresh water represented 98.5 percent of total water usage, while freshwater accounted for only 1.5 percent.

Freshwater consumption intensity improved to 0.02 barrels per barrel of oil equivalent, compared with 0.07 in 2024.

MENES facility processes 10,500 barrels of water daily

APA began operations at the MENES Produced Water Treatment facility in Egypt.

The facility processes nearly 10,500 barrels of produced water per day for reinjection and secondary recovery instead of disposal.

The project reduces diesel consumption by approximately 5,500 litres per day and supports an oil production increase of more than 300 barrels per day.

APA’s total water use in the Permian Basin was 59 percent lower in 2025 than in 2024, primarily because of asset divestments involving secondary-recovery operations.

Recycled water supports hydraulic fracturing

For U.S. hydraulic fracturing operations, recycled produced water accounted for 58 percent of water use in 2025, compared with 50 percent in 2024.

Nonfresh water represented 39 percent, while freshwater accounted for only 3 percent.

APA recycled or reused 241.671 million barrels of produced water globally during the year. This included 187.817 million barrels reused for secondary recovery and 53.855 million barrels recycled or reused for hydraulic fracturing.

Environmental restoration exceeds biodiversity target

APA accelerated the reclamation of approximately 300 U.S. onshore well pads, doubling its original target of at least 150 sites.

The company also recovered and processed 439,700 pounds of legacy poly pipe in Texas, diverting non-degradable waste from landfills and returning usable material to the supply chain.

In Egypt, APA recycled approximately 12,000 metric tonnes of dried and tested drilling cuttings for road repairs in the Western Desert. The initiative reduced waste handling requirements and transportation emissions while supporting local infrastructure.

Safety performance reaches record levels

APA achieved zero severe injuries and zero fatalities across its global employee and contractor workforce in 2025.

The company recorded its lowest Total Recordable Incident Rate in its history at 0.13 per 200,000 hours worked, an 18 percent year-on-year improvement and 34 percent below its target of 0.20.

The Days Away, Restricted or Transferred rate improved to 0.07, which was 37 percent below the target of 0.11.

The Severe Incident Rate reached 0.00 for the first time in APA’s history.

The workforce Lost Time Incident Rate improved to 0.05, while the Vehicle Incident Rate reached 1.12 incidents per million miles driven.

APA completed more than 13,000 Life-Saving Rules inspections across Egypt and U.S. onshore operations, with field leadership participating in more than 60 percent. More than 7,700 inspections were completed in Egypt, over three times the previous year’s total.

ESG governance supports responsible operations

APA’s sustainability strategy is overseen by President and Chief Executive Officer John J. Christmann IV, supported by senior leaders representing environment, health and safety, supply chain, communications, human resources and legal functions.

The Board of Directors monitors sustainability performance, environmental risks, operational safety and ESG priorities as part of its governance responsibilities.

APA also aligns its sustainability disclosures with globally recognized reporting frameworks, including the Global Reporting Initiative, Sustainability Accounting Standards Board and Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures.

APA strengthens environmental and operational performance

APA’s 2026 Sustainability Progress Report demonstrates measurable progress in emissions reduction, methane management, electrification, water reuse and workplace safety. Scope 1 emissions declined to 6.124 million tonnes of CO₂e, Scope 2 emissions fell to 272,000 tonnes, methane intensity improved to 0.14 kilograms per BOE, and U.S. onshore flaring intensity remained below the company’s target at 0.84 percent.

The company also avoided more than 400,000 gallons of diesel and approximately 4,500 tonnes of CO₂ through electrified drilling, cut freshwater consumption by 66 percent, sourced 98 percent of global water use from recycled and nonfresh water, and processed nearly 10,500 barrels of produced water daily at its MENES facility. These results demonstrate how APA is combining emissions management, operational efficiency and environmental stewardship to support responsible energy production.
