Third-party-owned solar PV installations boost California's economy

Greentech Lead America: Third party owned solar PV system
installations in California have added more than $1 billion to the state’s
economy since being introduced in 2007, says a report from Sunrun and PV Solar.

The report demonstrates that residential solar leasing
concept is gaining rapid adoption due to government support, private sector
investment and innovation in solar energy.  The solar installations have
helped stimulate the economy, create jobs and improve the environment.

The $1 billion infusion from this increase went directly
to California local businesses and communities while helping homeowners of all
income levels switch to solar, according to the report.

The number of solar PV system purchased from a third-party-owned
solar power provider in 2012 is 30 times higher than the total for 2007.

“Because third-party-owned solar companies like Sunrun
lower the barrier to entry, more people can access solar,” said Stephen Torres,
founder and managing director of PV Solar Report.  “That’s more Americans
who save money on their electric bills while helping create local jobs, and
more money flowing to state and local economies.”

Since 2007, the fastest growing segment of the California
population deciding to go solar has been the 50k-75k household income
range.  The number of projects in middle-income markets — with median
incomes between $50,000 and $100,000 — has increased by 445 percent since
2007.

Verengo Solar leads California in residential sales and job

is leading the residential solar sales in California for the months of January
and February. The data shows that Verengo is the state’s leader in total sales
for both January and February. Verengo also reported adding 44 new jobs in
January and 40 new jobs in February, in addition to the 400 employees the
company hired in 2011.
