SunPower, solar power system providing group, announced their new collaboration with KB Home to install innovative energy storage solutions at KB Home locations in California as part of a pilot program.
SunPower currently provides solar power systems to buyers of houses in KB Home communities. This pilot program demonstrates the ability of this technology to store solar power produced during daytime for use during power shortage.
SunPower and KB Home are piloting the energy storage solutions this year in select KB Home communities with the potential for a broader rollout to additional communities next year.
KB Home estimates that at current electric rates, a 1.4KW high-efficiency photovoltaic system provided by SunPower would yield average energy savings of $216 per month or $25,900 over ten years.
SunPower is piloting energy storage solutions in Australia and Germany too.
Dan Bridleman, senior vice president, sustainability, technology and strategic sourcing, KB Home, said, “Showcasing this technology speaks to the strength of company’s partnership with SunPower demonstrating a positive approach towards new home innovation.”
