Strata Solar celebrates $1 b of North Carolina investments

Strata Solar has crossed $ 1 Billion mark in project investment in North Carolina recently.

Founded in 2009, company has its headquarters in Chapel Hill. It has over 65 solar facilities in 40 counties across the state and has brought 350 Megawatts of solar energy online. The company has provided employment to 2000 workers during the last 5 years.

Last week, Strata staff along with Governor Pat McCrory, Rep. William Brisson, Senator Brent Jackson and selected land owners celebrated this milestone at Anderson Solar Facility in Roseboro followed by guests taking a tour of the facility.

The speakers highlighted the general importance of the solar industry, the positive impact it has had on employment, the importance of both the local investment and the environmental benefits.

This is a really big day for Strata Solar, a company that started as a family business serving its local community. Company always chased big dreams and wanted to make a difference in local environment and has achieved 1 Billion dollars’ worth of investment with utility scale projects across the entire state today, said, Markus Wilhelm, co-founder, CEO, Strata Solar.

Solar energy is a big part of North Carolina’s all-of-the-above energy strategy, and Strata Solar is thanked for its impressive investment in state. North Carolina is a national leader in solar energy, and companies like Strata Solar have played a big role in the past and will continue to do so in the future, said, Governor Pat McCrory.

Company provides training and opportunity for young men and women to learn new skills and gain valuable experience in a market that is growing. These are competitive jobs that equip these people, most of them aged 18-25, with the confidence that is necessary to grow their careers, said, Wilhelm.

Currently, Strata Solar has 12 projects under construction and expects to achieve its second billion dollars invested in solar projects by 2016.
