RenewSys has acquired Solar Semiconductor. The acquisition of the encapsulant and backsheet supplier is expected to help RenewSys enter the OEM solar cell and module manufacturing business.
PV Magazine reports that the companies haven’t revealed the specifics of the deal.
Currently RenewSys has a facility in Hyderabad which has the capacity to produce 30 MW of cells and 100 MW of modules annually.
According to PV Magazine, the company also has plans to purchase a cell line to increase capacity to 100 MW of solar cells, and double module capacity to 200 MW before end of the year.
