Indian solar EPC company Rays Power Infra has commissioned a 31.5 MW solar photovoltaic project in Punjab.

According to a statement issued by the company, the project has been developed for Mumbai-based Pan India Infra Projects.

It has expanded the solar energy portfolio of Rays Power Infra to installed capacity of 99 megawatts, Economic Times has reported.

The project is expected to generate “five crore units of electricity” each year which is adequate to meet average power requirements of 10,000 households.

“Rays Power’s utility scale photovoltaic solar power project in Punjab was developed in two phases of 21 MW at Lakhmirwala and 10.5 MW at Barre, in Mansa district,” the company has reported in its statement.

Pawan Sharma, the director of Rays Power Infra said his company completed design, engineering, procurement, erection and commissioning of the project in less than 100 days.

The project should reduce 50,000 tons of carbon emissions each year, Sharma has added.

In February, Rays Power Infra had bagged solar EPC projects of combined capacity of 37 megawatts — estimated to cost Rs 240 crore — in Telangana and Karnataka.

Of the projects, a 5-megawatt facility was to be established in Karnataka and a 32-megawatt solar farm was to be developed in Telangana.

And of the 32 megawatts, Rays Power was IPP for 10 megawatts and was to also carry out EPC for the remaining 22 megawatts on behalf of three organisations. The PPA for the project was signed at average price of Rs 6.6 per unit, a report stated.

The power purchase agreement for the project in Karnataka — developed for a Gujarat-based organization — was signed for the price of Rs7.1 per unit.
