India and Finland collaborate on solar applications for oil and gas projects

 

Greentech Lead Asia: India and Finland are collaborating on solar energy applications for oil and gas projects.

Both countries are exploring partnerships in solar energy applications for oil and gas projects, biofuels and algae based biofuels research and water and waste water management, in addition to carbon capture and reformation, according to an official announcement from the government.

The partnership will also explore Finland`s Green Growth & Groove program for suitable application to Indian Scenario and Academic Institutions/Universities for collaborative R&D projects in areas of low carbon growth technologies and sustainable development.
Indian Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Lakshmi Panabaka and Finland’s State Secretary for Employment and Economy Marja Rislakki held a meeting in this regard. The meeting was also attended by 14 members from Finland and senior officials from Oil Ministry and ONGC.

“Based on above broad areas of collaboration, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) can be taken up between Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Government of Finland in future,” an official statement said.

Finland’s ‘Finn-partnership’ aims to increase commercial cooperation with developing countries to enhance economic growth, diversify the economy and exports, and reduce poverty in developing countries, the statement said.
