German photovoltaic solutions and service provider Conergy has won a contract to build an 18-megawatt solar power project in The Philippines.
Monte Solar Energy, a joint venture between AC Energy Holdings (an Ayala Corporation unit) and Bronzeoak Philippines, has awarded the contract. The project is to come up at Bais, Negros Oriental.
Conergy will handle engineering and design, component procurement, and project management of the new plant. The farm is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of next year.
Conergy had designed the first solar power plant of The Philippines, the 45-MW San Carlos Solar plant, which went online last year.
The Philippines currently has more than 110 MWp of grid-connected solar installations and has plans to develop another 2.5 GW of solar projects.
