Landis+Gyr grab Smart Grid network deal for public utilities

Landis+Gyr, has announced 31 new advanced new contracts for metering and smart grid network deployment with public power utilities in last seven months.

The agreements consist of around 300,000 metering endpoints. In future, the volume and revenue of the contracts may triple in size, as customers display the potential for project expansion.

The new business are promoted by a mix of customers shifting from one-way network technology as well as new customers employing Gridstream networks for two-way advanced metering, load and grid management and consumer engagement features.

Landis+Gyr provides migration policies and support for municipal and cooperative utilities to update legacy network and metering technology that enable enhanced benefits for utility operations, said, Prasanna Venkatesan, EVP, Americas, Landis+Gyr.

Meanwhile, many utilities are installing smart grid networks for the first time, choosing a proper technology promising quality and value in future, added Venkatesan.

With the help of Gridstream RF mesh network technology that offer reliable connectivity to meters, sensors and grid automation devices, and Gridstream PLX, a PLC network that supports 15-minute interval data from every meter, migration path to future-ready communication networks and grid sensors are ensured.

For existing customers, migration is easier with a common head-end software platform and multi-platform data collectors that support new and legacy endpoints.
