Colorado Home Energy Rebate Program

Zero Homes today announced statewide service expansion across Colorado, enabling homeowners to navigate and access the newly launched Colorado Home Energy Rebate Program and install energy-efficient heat pump systems that reduce energy bills and improve home comfort.

The Colorado Home Energy Rebate Program, launched by the Colorado Energy Office in partnership with the Polis Administration, is a consumer-focused initiative backed by federal funding. It offers rebates of up to $14,000 per eligible household for a wide range of energy-saving home improvements. These incentives are designed to accelerate electrification and efficiency upgrades across Colorado homes, making clean energy technologies more affordable and accessible.

Eligible upgrades under the program include cold-climate and standard heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, insulation, air sealing, and electrical panel upgrades, among others. The program is structured to help households lower long-term energy costs while improving indoor comfort and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

“Coloradans want access to clean-energy technology to save money, and these rebates will help accomplish that,” said Governor Jared Polis at the program’s launch. “These rebates can help more Coloradans make a variety of home upgrades that will bring down energy costs and provide more efficient home heating and cooling.”

With its statewide expansion, Zero Homes now supports homeowners in every Colorado county, from major urban areas to rural mountain communities. The company focuses on simplifying what can often be a complex and time-consuming rebate and installation process.

Zero Homes delivers its services through a remote-first model that allows homeowners to receive system designs and quotes without the need for in-person assessments. Using its digital platform, the company designs appropriate heat pump systems, coordinates scheduling with registered local contractors, and provides quality assurance throughout the installation process. This approach ensures consistent service standards while extending reach across the state.

A key part of Zero Homes’ offering is rebate guidance and eligibility support. The Colorado Home Energy Rebate Program includes income-based eligibility tiers, including households earning up to 80 percent and 150 percent of the Area Median Income. Zero Homes assists homeowners in verifying income eligibility, understanding which rebate track applies to their situation, and completing the required application steps.

The company also facilitates professional heat pump installations, including cold-climate systems suitable for Colorado’s winters and ductless options for homes without existing ductwork. These systems not only lower energy consumption but also provide efficient heating and cooling throughout the year.

In addition, Zero Homes helps homeowners maximize total savings by combining the Home Energy Rebate Program with other available incentives. These may include utility rebates, state tax credits, and federal benefits, which together can significantly reduce overall project costs.

The Colorado Home Energy Rebate Program is structured around two primary rebate tracks. The Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates, known as HEAR, are currently available for eligible single-family homes and small multifamily buildings. This track focuses on high-efficiency electric appliances and electrification upgrades. The Home Efficiency Rebates, or HER, are designed for whole-home energy performance improvements and will be launched for manufactured and mobile homes as well as large multifamily buildings. Rebates are delivered through a network of registered contractors and applied directly as discounts on qualifying projects.

“Colorado’s new Home Energy Rebate Program is one of the most significant opportunities for homeowners to improve their homes, cut energy costs and emissions, and adopt cleaner technologies,” said a Zero Homes spokesperson. “Zero Homes is committed to making this process as straightforward as possible, from understanding eligibility to completing installation, for homeowners no matter where they live in the state.”

Under the program, heat pump installations can qualify for substantial incentives. Cold-climate heat pumps may receive rebates of up to $8,000, while standard heat pump systems can qualify for up to $3,000, all within the total household rebate cap of $14,000. Additional rebates may be available for related upgrades such as heat pump water heaters, air sealing, insulation, and electrical panel improvements.
