Trina Storage

Trina Storage, the energy storage arm of Trinasolar, has reached a key milestone in 2025 with over 2.4 GWh of utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) under execution across the Asia-Pacific region (excluding China). This achievement marks a significant contribution to the projected 16 GWh of new BESS capacity expected to be added in the region this year, according to BloombergNEF.

“Trina Storage is setting new benchmarks for the global energy storage industry with proven technical strength and reliable project delivery,” Leo Zhao, Head of Energy Storage at Trinasolar Asia Pacific, said.

Strategic Focus: Regional Scale with Local Precision

Trina Storage’s projects span Australia, Japan, Southeast Asia, and South Asia, with standout deployments including 1.7 GWh in South Asia — one of the largest regional storage projects to date —and 500 MWh in Australia’s Limestone Coast North Energy Park. These projects reflect a dual strategy: scaling utility-size deployments while tailoring delivery to local grid and regulatory requirements.

By establishing expert local teams in key markets, Trina Storage ensures region-specific execution while leveraging global technical expertise. This localized approach helps the company navigate complex regulatory landscapes and align with domestic standards, such as IEC, UL, NFPA, and local certifications in Australia and Japan.

Technology-Driven Differentiation

At the heart of its growth is the Elementa Series, Trina Storage’s smart, fully integrated energy storage platform. It incorporates in-house manufactured lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells, allowing full control over cell performance, safety, and supply chain resilience. Key technical innovations include:

Smart thermal management to maintain cell temperature within 3°C

Auxiliary power consumption as low as 1.8 percent

Up to 30 percent reduction in energy losses compared to traditional systems

These advancements contribute to improved round-trip efficiency, better system stability, and potentially more usable energy output over the system’s lifetime.

Reliability and Bankability

Trina Storage has cemented its reputation as a Tier 1 energy storage manufacturer, maintaining its BloombergNEF ranking for six consecutive quarters. The company combines bankable project credentials, comprehensive performance guarantees, and long-term warranties, which have bolstered investor trust and positioned it as a preferred partner in utility-scale storage.

This reputation is further enhanced by the company’s full-scope delivery framework, covering everything from cell production to project commissioning — reducing risks and ensuring delivery timelines are met.

Outlook: Supporting APAC’s Energy Transition

Trina Storage’s expanding footprint in APAC reflects both growing market demand and recognition of its unique strengths in technology integration, project execution, and grid-compliant, future-ready solutions. As APAC utilities and developers accelerate their push toward renewable energy, Trina Storage is playing a central role in enabling a resilient and efficient clean energy infrastructure.
