Trina Solar, a provider of smart PV and energy storage solutions, has sealed a MoU with Narashinrinsigen Hozenkousya (Nara Forest Resources Protection Company of Japan).

This strategic partnership marks Trina Solar’s entry into Japan’s industrial energy storage sector, with an ambitious commitment to supply large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) totaling 30MWh of storage capacity starting in 2024.

Bolstered by a robust research and development infrastructure, Trina Storage currently boasts a network of over 100 global partners, engaging in projects surpassing 10 GWh, with an additional 4 GWh in active development.

This latest collaboration signifies Trina Storage’s maiden industrial application order in Japan. The company recently introduced Elementa 2, leveraging proprietary battery cells, boasting zero battery degradation within the initial year of operation. The transition to Trina Solar’s in-house cells in the second-generation Elementa underscores the company’s unwavering commitment to innovation and product refinement.

Narashinrinsigen, a longstanding collaborator with Trina Solar in the modules sector, stands as a pivotal partner reaffirming their trust and support through this storage agreement, marking an auspicious commencement for Trina Storage within the Japanese storage market.

Todd Li, President of Trina Solar Asia Pacific, said: “This partnership not only underscores the excellence of our products and market influence but also signifies a significant stride in collectively propelling energy storage technology and the utilization of renewable energy.”

Hosoi Genmei, Representative Director and President of Narashinrinsigen, echoed the sentiment, stating, “We acknowledge Trina Solar’s remarkable accomplishments in recent years. We firmly believe that through our collaborative endeavors, we will inject substantial impetus into the global energy transition by introducing advanced and efficient energy storage solutions.”

Trina Solar has been an active participant in the Japanese market since 2010, earning the trust of numerous collaborating partners for its world-class products, dependable supply chain, swift logistics, and comprehensive after-sales service. Last year, the company achieved its highest-ever cumulative module shipment volume in Japan, totaling approximately 7.5 GW, solidifying its stature in the Japanese renewable energy landscape.
