Iliad Group Unveils Renewable Energy Deals Across Three Geographies

Renewable Energy and EV business

Iliad Group, a leading telecommunications company, has announced achievements in its commitment to sustainability, revealing the signing of three new Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with ENGIE and Statkraft across its operational regions.

Under the PPAs, iliad Group has committed to procuring electricity from solar farms situated in Sainte-Gemme (France), Latina (Italy), and Resko (Poland) for a duration spanning 10 to 15 years, commencing from their operationalization in 2025.

The Group’s pledge to cover at least 50 percent of its electricity consumption in Poland and Italy, and 20 percent in France, by 2035 with PPAs underscores its dedication to transitioning towards renewable energy sources. This initiative aligns with the Group’s Climate Plan, unveiled in 2021, which outlines the utilization of renewable energy to meet its direct electricity consumption needs.

With the addition of these new PPAs to its portfolio, alongside the initial PPA announced in January 2023, iliad Group’s renewable electricity production capacity now stands at almost 140 GWh. This equates to the annual domestic consumption of cities such as Quimper (France), Padua (Italy), or Częstochowa (Poland), and caters to the electricity needs of approximately 5 million subscribers across Europe, who rely on the Group’s network infrastructure.

The Group maintains a rigorous approach to project selection, prioritizing solar farms with minimal environmental impact and community benefit. Notably, all three newly contracted solar farms bear the EKOenergy label, ensuring adherence to stringent environmental standards.

By opting for EKOenergy-certified projects, iliad Group not only secures renewable energy sources but also contributes to global initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable energy and combating energy poverty, as EKOenergy supports solar power projects in low and middle-income countries.
