Iberdrola Renewables will sell the entire output from the 76-megawatt Twin Buttes II wind project in Colorado to energy company Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association.
Iberdrola has signed a 25-year contract to supply power to Tri-State once the project is completed in 2017.
Twin Buttes II, located south of Lamar, comprises 38 wind turbines and is expected to produce adequate electricity to meet the base demand of 30,000 average households in Colorado.
Last month Iberdrola announced its Q1 results. The company claimed 7.2 percent increase in “recurring net profit with net earnings similar to last year at 841 million euros due to lower extraordinary income”.

The company said in a statement that its Q1 results supported its commitment to offer shareholders a minimum annual remuneration of 0.27 euros gross per share up to 2016.
In April Iberdrola had entered long-term power supply agreements with Equinix data centers.
Under those agreements it was to supply power to Equinix data centers with clean energy produced by a fleet of wind farms it owns.
Wind farms in Washington, Oregon and Texas were to shoulder much of the load, according to a statement.
