Vaisala launches Nomad 3 data logger

Nomad 3 data logger

Environmental and industrial measurement solutions provider Vaisala recently launched Nomad 3 Data Logger. The new data management device, the company claims, makes wind measurement easier and more economical for developers and operators.

Quality wind resource data can directly impact long-term success of wind energy projects. Such data helps early siting, ongoing investment and operational decisions.

According to Vaisala, Nomad3 removes the key disadvantages among available data loggers namely complexity in installation and operation, and the consequent costs in training, field time and need for extra features to provide full functionality.

Many existing devices are also not suited for optimal performance in rough climatic conditions and in remote places. They are also often not compatible with different wind measurement sensors in use within the industry.

Nomad 3 is reliable in harsh conditions and compatible with market leading wind sensors, Vaisala has stated.

The Nomad 3 can be conveniently carried in a backpack to difficult-to-access places. The device is suited for operations in South America, Asia, and Africa, the company stated.

Wireless connectivity and the facility to remotely manage data help Vaisala cut costs associated with sending information over cellular networks. Further, data encryption ensures security.

Currently the beta clients of Nomad 3 include National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE, formerly C-WET) India, Saiwind, and WISE Information Sentinel.
