Soluna Expands Renewable-Powered AI and Bitcoin Computing with 100 MW Project Ellen

Soluna Holdings has announced Project Ellen, a 100 MW data center co-located with a 145 MW wind farm in South Texas. Developed in two 50 MW phases, the facility will support AI, high-performance computing, and Bitcoin mining operations. Named after astronaut Ellen Ochoa, the project aims to utilize underused green energy while enhancing grid stability. With Project Ellen, Soluna’s total data center capacity will exceed 698 MW across various stages.

Norfolk Firms Secure Vessel Charters for East Anglia Three Offshore Wind Project

Two Norfolk-based companies have been awarded vessel charter contracts for ScottishPower Renewables’ East Anglia Three (EA3) offshore wind farm, located 69 km off the Great Yarmouth coast. The EA3 project, part of the larger East Anglia Hub, will feature 95 Siemens Gamesa 14.7 MW turbines, totaling 1.4 GW in capacity — enough to power approximately 1.3 million homes. During its two-year construction phase, the project is expected to support over 2,300 jobs, with more than 100 roles in operations and maintenance over its lifespan.

Trump Administration Halts 810MW Empire Wind Project in New York

The Donald Trump administration has stopped construction of Equinor’s 810MW Empire Wind 1 offshore wind project, affecting New York’s clean energy plans. U.S. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum raised concerns about the environmental review done during the Biden era. Equinor has invested $2 billion in the project, which aimed to power 700,000 homes by 2027. The company is now seeking clarification from federal officials

OnPath Energy Seeks Community Feedback on Proposed Scottish Wind Farm

OnPath Energy is inviting public input on its proposed wind farm in the Cumnock and Doon Valley, South Ayrshire, Scotland. The project aims to repurpose the restored Garleffan and Grievehill former coal mine sites into a renewable energy facility. If approved, the wind farm would consist of up to eight turbines, each reaching a maximum tip height of 250 meters, and generate approximately 161.5 GWh annually enough to power around 55,000 homes. OnPath plans to offer up to £5,000 per megawatt annually in community funding and provide 1 percent free equity ownership to local residents.

Grenergy Expands Chilean Solar-Plus-Storage Project with 3 GWh BYD Battery Supply

Grenergy Renovables has expanded its Oasis de Atacama solar-plus-storage project in northern Chile by securing an additional 3 GWh of battery storage from BYD, marking BYD’s largest supply agreement to date. The project now aims for 2 GW of solar capacity and 11 GWh of storage across five phases, with the first phase expected online by late 2024 and further phases in 2025 and 2026. Grenergy has secured long-term power purchase agreements for 75 percent of the project’s output and has raised over $640 million in green financing.

Vietnam Plans $136 Billion investment to Boost Power Capacity

Vietnam has revealed a $136.3 billion plan to increase its power capacity to 183–236 GW by 2030, up from 80 GW in 2023. The plan includes restarting nuclear energy with the first plants ready by 2030. It will also expand renewable energy, aiming for 25.3 percent–31.1 percent solar power and 14.2 percent–16.1 percent wind by 2030. Coal’s share will drop to 13.1 percent–16.9 percent, and LNG will make up 9.5 percent–12.3 percent. Offshore wind is expected to contribute 6–17 GW by 2035.
