EVLO Commissions First Energy Storage Project in American Samoa

EVLO Energy Storage, part of Hydro-Québec, has completed the first of three battery energy storage systems (BESS) in American Samoa. This project includes a 4 MW/8 MWh BESS installed on the island of Ta’u. It was developed with Eastern Power Solutions and the American Samoa Power Authority. Two more projects are planned: 5 MW/10 MWh on Tutuila and 1 MW/2 MWh on Aunu’u. These systems will help balance solar power, improve energy reliability, and support American Samoa’s target of 100 percent renewable energy by 2040.

Fervo Energy Signs 31 MW Power Deal with Shell Energy

Fervo Energy has signed a 15-year power purchase agreement with Shell Energy for 31 MW of geothermal power from its Cape Station in Beaver County, Utah. This agreement marks Shell Energy as the first to purchase power from Phase I of the Cape Station project. The enhanced geothermal system (EGS) facility, which will generate up to 500 MW, is expected to begin providing clean energy by 2026. This partnership highlights the increasing demand for reliable, zero-emission energy solutions.

Oman to Build $200 Million Wind Turbine Factory in Duqm

Oman is set to establish its first wind turbine manufacturing facility in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm. The $200 million project, led by Mawarid Turbine Company, will have the capacity to produce up to 1 GW of turbines annually. This initiative is expected to generate over 1,000 jobs and significantly contribute to Oman’s renewable energy growth. The factory will also foster the development of local supply chains and strengthen Oman’s position in the global wind energy market.

ReNew Power and PPC Secure Grid Access for 882 MW Solar Projects

ReNew Power and PPC have secured grid access for a combined 882 MW of solar power capacity in India. This includes a significant 700 MW project by ReNew Power and 182 MW by PPC. These projects will contribute to India’s renewable energy expansion and help achieve its clean energy goals. The partnership emphasizes the companies’ dedication to boosting solar energy generation, supporting India’s target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based energy by 2030.
