Azerbaijan Partners with China to Build 2GW Offshore Wind Farm

Azerbaijan has partnered with China to develop a 2GW offshore wind farm in the Caspian Sea, marking a major step in its renewable energy ambitions. The agreement was signed during President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Beijing on April 23, 2025. Key players in the deal include Azerbaijan’s state oil firm SOCAR and China’s PowerChina. The project is part of a broader strategic partnership between the two nations and aims to diversify Azerbaijan’s energy mix, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and enhance regional energy security through large-scale clean power generation.

Greenvolt Sells Polish Renewable Projects to Energa for €107M

Greenvolt Power has finalized the €107 million sale of two renewable energy projects in Poland to Energa Wytwarzanie. The deal includes the Opalenica project with 22 MW of solar capacity and the Sompolno hybrid project combining 26 MW wind and 10 MW solar, totaling 58.6 MW. These projects are expected to generate 111 GWh annually, with commercial operations starting by mid-2024. This transaction supports Greenvolt’s asset rotation strategy to divest 200 MW by year-end. Energa, part of the Energa Group, strengthens its renewable portfolio through this strategic acquisition in the Polish energy market.

Zelestra secures $113 million financing for 81 MWdc Jasper County Solar Project in Indiana

Zelestra, a global renewable energy company, has secured a $113 million green project financing credit facility for its 81 MWdc Jasper County Solar Project in Indiana, with Banco Santander as the sole arranger. The project, which has a long-term environmental attributes purchase agreement with Meta, is expected to be fully operational by Q4 2025. The financing aligns with Zelestra’s Green Financing Framework, validated by DNV and supported by BNP Paribas, to promote low-carbon investments. Zelestra’s US CFO, Sybil Milo Cioffi, highlighted the importance of the deal and the ongoing collaboration with Meta. With nearly 7 GW of projects in its US pipeline, Zelestra was recently ranked among the top global clean energy sellers by BloombergNEF.

SolarBank to develop 4.584 MW DC ground-mount solar project

SolarBank Corporation has announced plans to develop a 4.584 MW DC ground-mount solar project, named the Forest Hill Rd project, in upstate New York. With a site lease secured and an interconnection study in progress, this project strengthens SolarBank’s growing development pipeline, which now exceeds 1 GW. The project will qualify for compensation under New York’s VDER (Value of Distributed Energy Resources) program, with a projected year-one average rate of $0.0971/kWh. The initiative supports SolarBank’s commitment to expanding community solar.
