CyrusOne issues Houston’s energy-saving case study

CyrusOne, the data center services provider has declared availability of a new case study featuring a data center solution prepared for the City of Houston.

Houston government employs approximately 21,000 people in 22 departments.

This case study details how the City of Houston was able to consolidate data centers to reduce its energy consumption and focus resources on its core mission of supporting city government operations rather than spending effort managing data center infrastructure, said Scott Brueggeman, chief marketing officer, CyrusOne.

In addition to taking advantage of the advanced security, power, and cooling capabilities that CyrusOne offers, this solution has also allowed the City to reclaim office space for departmental use that was formerly used to house servers, added Brueggeman.

City of Houston IT Services is withdrawing six of its nine privately owned data center facilities, located in the metropolitan area as part of the green initiative to reduce energy consumption.

The first IT footprint will be accommodated at CyrusOne’s Houston West data center, located outside the floodplain of downtown Houston, designed to withstand hurricanes and other natural disasters.

CyrusOne specializes in enterprise data center services and colocation solutions along with engineering its facilities for power-density infrastructure needed for providing availability and highest possible power redundancy (2N) architecture.

With 25 carrier-neutral data center facilities across the US, Europe, and Asia, CyrusOne provides customers with the flexibility and scale for their specific growth needs.
