Synera Secures Corporate PPA for 800 MW Formosa 6 Offshore Wind Project in Taiwan

Synera Renewable Energy Group has signed a corporate power purchase agreement with Star Trade for electricity from its 800 MW Formosa 6 offshore wind project off Taiwan’s Changhua County. Formosa 6 is located about 35 km off Xianxi Township and covers roughly 84 sq km. Taiwan awarded the project 800 MW in the Phase 3-2 offshore-wind zonal-development auction in August 2024, although the site has potential capacity of up to 1 GW. Star Trade has now contracted more than 10 percent of the combined capacity of Formosa 6 and Synera’s 495 MW Formosa 4 project. Formosa 6 could ultimately generate enough electricity for around 860,000 households annually, with offshore-power transfers expected to begin from Q4 2028.

Statkraft Installs First Panels at 49.9 MW Soay Solar Farm in East Yorkshire

Statkraft has installed the first photovoltaic panels at its 49.9 MW Soay Solar Farm in East Yorkshire, marking a major construction milestone for the company’s first UK solar development to enter construction. Located east of Thornton, the project is scheduled to become operational during 2027 and is expected to generate enough renewable electricity for approximately 21,700 homes annually. Around one-third of the site will be dedicated to habitat enhancement and new planting, with biodiversity expected to improve by more than 130 percent. Soay sits next to Statkraft’s Thornton Greener Grid Park, where a 200 MW two-hour BESS is nearing commissioning. Statkraft’s wider UK investment pipeline exceeds £3 billion, with around 20 projects already holding planning consent.

B2U Starts 28 MWh Second-Life EV Battery Storage Project in Texas

B2U Storage Solutions has started commercial operations at a 28 MWh battery energy storage system in Texas using repurposed electric-vehicle batteries. The project is connected to the ERCOT grid and demonstrates how retired EV battery packs can be redeployed into utility-scale stationary storage without first being dismantled into cells. B2U’s business model extends battery life while potentially lowering storage costs and reducing material demand compared with manufacturing entirely new batteries. The commissioning gives the company another operating reference as second-life storage attracts growing interest from utilities and renewable developers seeking lower-cost flexibility. The project is particularly relevant in Texas, where rapid solar and wind deployment is creating increasing demand for grid-scale storage and balancing resources.
